Previous – Dev Log #11: Bossing it!

It’s been a very busy time for the MBG team recently. With the addition of our server to the workload, we’ve had to dedicate a lot of time elsewhere rather than just on RogueQuest for a short while. We have been working on RogueQuest throughout, just not at the breakneck pace we were previously working at.

The final boss battle is completely finished now and I have to say it’s my favourite battle in the entire game. :) Can’t wait to have people play it!

The majority of our time has been taken up with creating animations for the game. Although we had originally opted for a slideshow, Necrodancer style aesthetic, we’ve moved to full on animations now – and that’s making the process take a HELL of a lot longer than usual. That said, they are looking incredible so I’m confident we made the right decision – but it does mean we’ll need more time to complete the project than previously expected.

Kyana’s dialogue is mostly finished now. I have a few lines left to touch up, mostly ordering of her texts, then I’m ready to call in the voice actress that I found to do her lines. Looking forward to that!

More Kactera tiles have been coded. There are about 50% of Kactera’s tile to go and around 80% of Pyralia’s tiles. This work isn’t hard, it’s just long and laborious, which is why we haven’t got around to completing it yet. SoonTM!

The musician is making great progress with the soundtrack. Just a few tracks left for Pyralia and the Core and the whole set of music will be ready! :) Can’t wait to share it.

I’ve been running LOTS of playtest – we must have had about 12 hours of testing in total. A lot of bugs have been worked out now, it’s just a matter of seeing if the fixes were successful. Time shall tell!

And that’s about all! I’ll try to keep you posted with more updates as they happen.
